  • 5 star ratingAmazing stay! You won’t be disappointed! Myself and my partner have just got home from a 2 night stay at the rye windmill b&b. One of the best places we have stayed. With the current situation going on it’s easy to worry about cleanliness and safety but this was covered from the start. Clear regimes that need to be followed to ensure that everything is covered and it made us feel safe from the start. Our room was spotlessly clean and overlooked the river which was amazing. We had towels, toiletries, a fan, hairdryer, biscuits and a selection of drinks from 2 litre bottles of water to hot drinks which you can refill as much as you want. We were made to feel very welcome from the start and the windmill is beautiful. The breakfast was amazing such a great selection and we left both mornings feeling stuffed ready for our day of exploring rye. From cereal, yoghurt and fruit to toast, a range of juices, tea and coffee and a range of cooked options from poached eggs, continental and also a full English. All of this is cooked and served by the hosts themselves! I don’t know how they do it it was like 30 degrees and you didn’t have to wait for anything. All of it cooked fresh as you order.

We will definitely be back it made our whole staycation. It is a must if you are visiting rye to stay here.

  • 4 star ratingLovely dog friendly accommodation and friendly hosts We booked an overnight stay in Rye and wanted somewhere in walking distance to the town centre. Rye Windmill immediately caught my eye as it is quirky and looks interesting. The other essential we were looking for was Dog Friendly. It was easy to find and plenty of parking.

We were immediately met by the owner, Toby who was really friendly. Due to Covid Toby had made all of the necessary safety amendments including taking our temperature on entering and wearing face masks. Reception was light and plenty of info about the area available and a selection of teas and coffees to top up your room if you want.

The room was not huge but was clean and had basic facilities including tea and coffee, water, TV and a hair dryer. The shower was large but not particularly powerful and the temperature was temperamental. Towels are provided.

We had the option of breakfast in the dining room or breakfast delivered in a bag. Due to having a dog we elected for breakfast in a bag. We had a choice and chose yoghurt and granola which was lovely and my wife had a bacon roll and I had a sausage bap which was very tasty using locally sourced meat. A bottle of orange juice was also provided too and overall breakfast was great.

It was a few minutes walk to the town which was ideal.

One thing to know about is that the Windmill is next to the railway line however it is not a busy line and I counted 3 trains in total during our stay which were quiet and low speed.

Would we stay again? Yes, definitely. A great B&B with lovely hosts who are dog friendly.

    Thank you.

  • 5 star ratingAmazing Stay - a must in Rye! Had a fantastic stay at the Windmill. Was our first time and would happily return! Toby was so helpful and hospitable - and his wife did a fantastic job with our breakfasts (she bakes fantastic muffins!) in the morning. Also - a very safe stay if you are wary of COVID. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned and we felt secure at all times. Everyone is encourages to wear masks and apply hand gel (made available) the whole process is very diligent.

A must if you plan on visiting Rye!

  • 5 star ratingB&B with a difference We had a night in the Windmill suite which is on the first and second floors of the windmill which menat we could enjoy the fantastic views from the veranda. From arrival to checking out we were made to feel special and Toby is very welcoming and has a wealth of knowledge of the local area including where best to eat and drink, how he is still as slim as he is I can't understand as he and his wife often check out the the local places so his recommendations are spot on!

The Windmill Suite is very spacious with everything provided that you may need during your stay, the only thing we actually needed to take was toothbrushes and toothpaste! The shower is great for waking you up in the morning and thats without pushing the "boost" button.

Breakfast was all we had read in other reviews, and some. The range of options cater to all tastes and we can confirm that the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was certainly to be recommended.

All in all a great place to stay and somewhere we are likely to visit again, which is a rare thing for us.

  • 5 star ratingPerfect place to stay! Spent an absolutely perfect night at the Windmill in June 2019. The hosts were extremely friendly and ensured we had a thorough understanding of what the area had to offer. The room and common spaces were well decorated, comfortable and authentic yet updated. Breakfast was superb as were the refreshments, snacks and bar selection. The location was amazingly convenient to both the train station and the picturesque center of town. I would HIGHLY recommend the Windmill to anyone looking for accommodation in Rye.

  • 5 star ratingLovely B&B in the heart of Rye Perfectly situated a few minutes walk from Rye train statIon, the Rye Windmill B&B lies tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac. Ideal if you’re coming by train but they also have parking if you don’t have a car.

Toby the owner gave me a very warm welcome including a little tour, a local map and directions to explore Rye.

My room (8) was very light and spacious with a good sized bathroom too. It’s very clean and friendly and Toby and Kathryn make a special effort at breakfast with fresh fruit, organic yoghurts and muesli and local Kent juices to accompany your breakfast cooked to order (they do a full veggie option too).

The windmill is an historical and very unique building and well worth a visit. They have a special Windmill Suite which is situated in the body of the windmill itself. I’d definitely come back again. More

  • 5 star ratingGreat B and B. Good gluten free knowledge. My daughter found the wonderful Windmill for us for a much needed post op break away. We stayed in the Windmill Suite. At the top of the windmill itself. A lovely room with 360 views. Comfy bed. Lovely roll top bath and everything you could think of within the room. The B and B is plastic free so you are able to top up your water in reception and have lovely jam from jars! At breakfast. Good gluten free sausage and nice choice of breakfast. Perhaps could think about getting a cereal that is gluten free too? Just a thought. Overall a yes from us! Would definitely stay again if in the area.
